Kirkjufell after sunset

Kirkjufell is the main reason why photographers come to Snæfellsnes to the peninsula. With a small waterfall, a bridge and a bay in the background, it creates a splendid composition. Unfortunately, it’s hard to be creative here. There is one viewpoint, and tripods are placed all around from early morning till midnight.

Sunset falls

Hiking along the Skóga River Gorge allows you to admire several magical waterfalls. This one we liked the most – surrounded by steep, red rocks and slopes covered with neon-green moss.

Icelandic horses

This photo is pure luck. Nothing forecasted that sunset. And the horses? They just waited for someone to take a picture of them!

Through Iceland

Roads in Iceland are different. We only passed one car on this fifteen-kilometre road leading through volcanic ash fields.

Black ice

In the summer the glacier turns black covered by volcanic dust.

Break

I like how this modest flower in the corner unnerves this foggy, gloomy monotony.

Cloud factory

The Krafla geothermal power plant generates energy thanks to hot springs and the proximity of the Krafla volcano. Landscape? Like from a steam-punk movie.

Desert of Ash

Volcanic ash fields stretch for miles around Hekla. This landscape is depressing with its lifelessness, on the other hand, you can find beauty in it. Lines of darker crumbs form patterns and you can find small plants breaking through.

Yellow Ghos - Islandia - Wrak samolotu

Yellow ghost

The DC3 wreck is a popular destination among photographers. I wanted to capture this rusted skeleton in a little bit more creative way. It’s good that Joanna bought a yellow jacket the day before!

Between heaven and moss

The wasteland of Iceland is at your fingertips. Here, just 5km from Ring Road, we didn’t meet anyone but sheep.

Meander

I love this composition – a small stream winds in the shape of the letter S and its edges are covered with green grass and flowers. The eye is focused on the very centre, where Joana stands.

Gorge

Fjaðrárgljúfur is a popular stop on Ring Road. Just turn left from the main „one” and after 10 minutes … „Yeah! Taa! Daa!”.

Red sky

Yeaaah. 23:30 and you get such show in the sky. You can barely stand, tired after the whole day and then this happens…

„Meeeeeeee”

Sheep in Iceland graze everywhere. In the wild. Some are less bold, others don’t bother posing for photos. And that one decided to become the model of the year!

Vestrahorn

Vestrahorn is the most photographed mountain in Iceland (Stokksnes viewpoint). And its faces and colours depend on the season and aura – that day it was silver-grey.

Shapes of ice

Black beach and ice blocks in fancy shapes and shades from transparency to deep blue. Tripod is a must here, as well as an ND filter.

Rumble

Yes – buses come here. Yes – there are many tourists here. Yes – there are souvenir shops. Yes – you have to see it, hear it and feel it!

Flow

Dettifoss is one of the most powerful waterfalls in Europe. The fall of 193 m³ of water every second is hypnotizing.

Glacier in a sunset

Sunset over Vatnajökull – one of the largest piece of ice in Europe.

Puffins

These little, extremely agile and fast birds are simply cute!

Fin

In Husavik we were extremely lucky to come across a crazy humpback whale who just jumped and waved his tail for 30 minutes.

Waterfall of the gods

Yellow jacket and a waterfall? I couldn’t resist the temptation …

Haifoss

Panoramic photo of a crack in Icelandic mossy plain.

Meadow

This is the third photo from Iceland’s best sunset.

Búðakirkja

On the Snæfellsnes peninsula, you can find a village that consists of a hotel and a church. And that’s all.
